The Bedford County area offers historic, cultural and
recreational attractions.
The
most recent attraction is the re-opening of the
Bedford Springs Resort, a famous, historic
resort built in 1804 which has undergone a
beautiful restoration and now includes a spa, 18
hole Donald Ross golf course as well as three
restaurants.
Also a recent attraction is the National Museum of the American Coverlet,
located just across the
street. It is an extensive display of early
American woven bed coverings, featuring many of
the classic designs and patterns of the 18th
century. Personal guided tours are available as
well as a visit to an attractive gift shop.
Also, in downtown Bedford, is the
Bedford County
Arts Center, featuring exhibitions of various art mediums that change
monthly.
Historic Bedford is well-known for the Fall Foliage Festival held the first two weekends of October with music, craft vendors, festival foods, antique cars and parades.
