OUR HOME
We have lovingly restored this grand old house into a Bed and Breakfast, saving the traditional architectural features and adding all new modern conveniences. Heavy moldings, high ceilings, floor to ceiling windows, wide center halls, carved staircases, and wide verandas are blended harmoniously with central air conditioning, recessed lighting, refinished hardwood floors, new private baths, state-of-the-art kitchen, ceiling fans, cable TV and high-speed wireless internet. Pause before you enter, to view our wide wrap-around front porch, complete with several rocking chairs just waiting for you to settle into with a good book. Our seasonal potted plants will enjoy your company too. Refreshments are served during warm months on request. During your visit, pause to enjoy the many original works of art on display throughout our home.
THE PARLOR
The parlor is the first room to greet you. It is furnished with family heirlooms and is primarily dedicated to you our guests for activities or guests of your own you may want to entertain.
THE LIBRARY
This is the most impressive room in the house. It was elegantly paneled in warm cherrywood by the former Chancellor of the University of Pittsburgh, Dr. John Bowman during his residence in the 1950s. Dr. Bowman also designed and built the tiled fireplace that features many famous Mercer Tiles. Dr. Bowman's creativity lives on in this richly appointed room.
THE DINING ROOM
Enjoy a healthy, hot breakfast in our light-filled dining room. You will be served on beautiful china, silver, and crystal. Taste, nutrition, and presentation are emphasized for this morning meal. Coffee and juice accompany fresh fruit, baked goods and a selection of time-tested entrees. Special dietary needs will be accommodated when notified in advance.
